Over the past week, Turkmenistan engaged in several high-level meetings and initiatives aimed at boosting international cooperation and modernizing its economy. Key developments included President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s talks with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, resulting in agreements on education, agriculture, and regional projects. Collaboration with South Korea advanced “green” industrial efforts, highlighted by the groundbreaking of a new fertilizer plant by Daewoo Engineering. Additionally, Turkmenistan approved a sustainable development framework with the UN for 2026–2030 and adopted a long-term higher education strategy.
Regional connectivity and innovation were also prioritized through discussions with Kazakhstan on trade, transport, and digitalization. The smart city of Arkadag earned recognition for innovation from the Eurasian Patent Organization, while the National Commission for UNESCO planned new scientific and environmental projects, including a national geopark. These activities underscore Turkmenistan’s commitment to economic diversification, environmental sustainability, and enhanced international partnerships.
