A ceremony was held at the Center of the International Association of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding and the International Association “Türkmen alabaý itleri” to present the UNESCO certificate recognizing “The Art of Breeding the Turkmen Alabay” as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This event highlighted the Turkmen Alabay dog as a national treasure deeply embedded in Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage. Under President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s leadership, significant state efforts have been made to preserve the breed’s purity through scientific research, specialized breeding centers, and international cooperation. The ceremony included exhibitions showcasing the history, cultural significance, and artistic depictions of the Alabay, as well as speeches emphasizing the importance of this recognition and the role of the Hero-Arkadag’s book “The Turkmen Alabay” in promoting the breed.
The celebration also featured a demonstration of the country’s top Alabays and winners of the International Competition “Ýylyň türkmen edermen alabaýy,” accompanied by cultural performances that underscored the breed’s symbolic value to the Turkmen people. Attendees expressed gratitude to the President and the Hero-Arkadag for their dedication to advancing dog breeding and popularizing the Turkmen Alabay worldwide. The event reinforced the national pride in this ancient breed and the ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting it as a vital part of Turkmenistan’s historical and cultural identity.
