Troop 1 continued its long-standing tradition with a successful week at Camp Buckskin in the Adirondacks, where 23 Scouts and six leaders engaged in diverse activities ranging from earning over 80 merit badges in skills like Camping and Plumbing to adventurous outings such as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and attending the Painted Pony Championship rodeo. The Scouts demonstrated strong teamwork and competitive spirit, winning the camp-wide Triathlon, earning the “Golden Arrow” for top archery, and defeating camp staff in flag football, culminating in receiving the prestigious “Best of Scouting Skills” (B.O.S.S.) award for outstanding scout spirit and campsite excellence.
Founded in 1916, Troop 1 is one of the oldest continuously operating Scout troops, focusing on character development, leadership, and outdoor skills for boys and young men from 6th grade through high school. Chartered by Christ Church Pelham, the troop has a proud history of guiding Scouts to Eagle rank and emphasizes challenging adventures and community service.
