A unique community fashion show called Trashion, held at the Bedford Hotel on October 30, raised £1,000 for Tavistock Lions by showcasing creative outfits made from recycled and repurposed materials such as crisp bags, CDs, newspapers, and bin bags. Organized by Penny Blackmore of Tavistock Scrapstore, the event aimed to highlight waste reduction and landfill diversion through innovative design, receiving positive feedback and calls to make it an annual occasion.
The show featured contributions from Tavistock College students, who designed imaginative costumes from recycled fabrics, including theatrical pieces inspired by “Midsummer Night’s Dream” and even a wedding outfit. The event successfully combined environmental awareness with artistic expression, engaging the community while raising funds for charity.
