Trainer Frank Madden of Capital Hill Show Stables in Wellington, Florida, has been suspended for two months starting immediately due to unsportsmanlike conduct during the 2025 Gladstone Cup, part of the Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championship—East. The U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) ruling cited Madden for obstructing the in-gate during a competitor’s ride and repeatedly complaining about eligibility decisions despite officials’ clarifications. In addition to the suspension, Madden was fined $2,000 and barred from participating in next year’s Gladstone Cup. His wife, Jennifer Madden, was also fined $1,000 and given an official warning for yelling about equipment alterations before a final round.
The USEF emphasized Madden’s role as a Licensed Official, expecting him to uphold sportsmanship and professionalism. Both Maddens’ cases were resolved informally after investigation, with legal representation. Frank Madden acknowledged the rules and expressed that he reached a resolution given the circumstances. The suspension period will conclude on January 3, 2026, coinciding with the Winter Equestrian Festival’s Premiere Week in Wellington.
