Touchuponastar Named 2025 Louisiana-Bred Horse of the Year for Second Time

Touchuponastar, a gelding bred by Coteau Grove Farms and owned by former NFL quarterback Jake Delhomme’s Set-Hut stable, was named Louisiana-bred Horse of the Year for the second time by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, following his previous win in 2023. The seven-year-old had a standout 2025 season, highlighted by multiple wins in black-type state-bred races and a victory in the Grade II New Orleans Classic at Fair Grounds. Trained by Jeff Delhomme, Jake’s brother, Touchuponastar also earned the top 4-Year-Old Male award for 2025.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Delhommes plan to target the final weekend of the Fair Grounds meet, focusing on the New Orleans Classic and the Star Guitar Stakes, with Touchuponastar reportedly in excellent condition. The article also lists other 2025 Louisiana champions across various categories and notes that award presentations will be held at the annual banquet on August 1 at Evangeline Downs.
