Eva Novi, a Torquay woman, is skydiving from 10,000 feet on National Help a Horse Day to raise funds for The Mare and Foal Sanctuary, a charity that helped her overcome severe anxiety and change her life for the better. The charity rescues and cares for horses and ponies in need, providing sanctuary for almost 600 animals.
Eva’s personal connection with the horses at the Sanctuary led her to volunteer and eventually work there, finding fulfillment and happiness in working with the animals. Spending time with horses has been shown to have positive psychological benefits, reducing depression and lowering the risk of dementia. The Sanctuary offers equine-assisted learning programs and support to horse and pony carers in need.
The Mare and Foal Sanctuary collaborates with other equine welfare charities nationwide and relies on donations to continue its work. Eva’s skydiving fundraiser is an opportunity for others to join her in supporting the charity and providing better lives for horses, ponies, and people. The charity believes in the intrinsic value and purpose of horses and ponies as sentient beings and long-time human companions.
