Top 3-year-old thoroughbreds Intrepido, Pavlovian, and La Brea (G1) winner Usha were notable on the work tab Sunday at Santa Anita, showcasing their preparations for upcoming races. Intrepido, trained by Jeff Mullins, worked five furlongs in 1:00.4 and is targeting the Santa Anita Derby (G1) on April 4. Pavlovian, trained by Doug O’Neill, clocked five furlongs in 1:01.0 and is entered in the Louisiana Derby (G2) after recently winning the Sunland Park Derby. Usha, trained by Bob Baffert, worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 and is coming off a decisive La Brea (G1) victory.
Other graded stakes winners also posted workouts, including Big City Lights, who is preparing for a return after an injury, and The Padre, an Irish import with multiple graded wins. At Gulfstream Park, White Abarrio, a four-time Grade 1 winner, worked three furlongs in 35.3 seconds, while other graded winners like Kilwin, Skippylongstocking, and May Day Ready also logged notable workouts. These training sessions highlight the ongoing preparations of top contenders across various tracks as they gear up for major upcoming races.
