Tom Dunlop, a 19-year-old from a prominent horseracing family in Lambourn, is undertaking a remarkable 2,600-mile charity cycle ride visiting all 60 horseracing courses across the country. His goal is to raise £60,000 for the Injured Jockeys Fund and Diverse Abilities, the latter being personally significant due to his mother’s godson who benefits from the charity’s services. Despite being dyspraxic and only learning to ride a bike at age 12, Tom has previously completed challenging fundraising efforts, including running local gallops during the COVID-19 pandemic to support Riding for the Disabled.
Starting from Newton Abbot on July 27, Tom plans to complete the ride in 33 days, finishing at Newbury on August 28. His route was carefully planned with industry experts, and he will make a meaningful stop to visit the graves of his late family members. Supported by the horseracing community, including loaned equipment and training from notable figures, Tom’s ambitious journey highlights his determination and commitment to causes close to his heart.
