The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced a series of wild horse and burro adoption events scheduled for June. These events will feature untrained animals available to qualified adopters for a minimum fee of $125. The adoption events will take place at various locations, including the Wind River Wild Horse Ranch and the Wheatland Off Range Corral, with specific dates and times outlined for each event.
On June 7, the Wind River Wild Horse Ranch will offer around 20 untrained horses, while the Fourth Annual Spring Mustang Rendezvous will provide educational opportunities but no adoptions. The following week, on June 14, Deerwood Open Ranch Days will feature approximately 20 wild horses available for adoption or sale. The final event on June 21 at the Wheatland Off Range Corral will include a live competitive auction for up to 30 wild horses, with any remaining animals available on a first-come, first-served basis.
These adoption events aim to address the issue of overpopulated herds roaming public western rangelands, providing a chance for qualified individuals to adopt these animals. For further details, interested parties can contact the national information center or visit the BLM’s website.
