At the Royal Windsor Horse Show, three reigning Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) winners competed in a highly competitive mini show pony/show hunter pony championship. Team Jinks/Forster excelled, securing both the champion title with Newoak Midnight Blue (Draco) and the reserve with Archwood Finley. Draco, a seven-year-old part-bred Dartmoor, has had a remarkable career, winning multiple prestigious titles and showcasing a strong partnership with rider Violet Mennie.
Draco, bred by Joyce Newbery and her daughter, was purchased unbroken as a three-year-old and has since achieved significant success, including wins at the Royal International Horse Show (RIHS) in 2023 and 2024. Adam Forster praised the bond between Violet and Draco, highlighting her talent in both showing and showjumping. Meanwhile, Archwood Finley, ridden by Lara-Rae Jones, also impressed, with Adam expressing admiration for Lara’s exceptional skills as a first-ridden jockey.
In the show pony lead-rein class, the reigning HOYS supreme Derw Dream Boy (Dave) triumphed with Sienna Clayton, led by Craig Eleanor. Craig commended Dave’s performance, emphasizing the pony’s exceptional qualities in the competitive setting. The event showcased the remarkable talent and dedication of both riders and ponies, contributing to a memorable championship at Royal Windsor.
