Title: "Sophie and Lily: A Journey of Companionship and Competition in Equestrian Sports"

Sophie said: “I’ve owned Lily since she was a foal and we’ve done everything together. She’s seven now and we mainly compete in showing and go hunting on Exmoor together. Lily is one of four Irish Draught full siblings we have, I mainly show the younger ones In-Hand. This is the first time we’ve done Search for a Star, we mainly compete in local and county shows although we qualified for the London Horse Show last year and took 7th place! I work as a nurse and swapped shifts to come to the qualifier today.”

Sophie has had her horse, Lily, since she was a foal, and they have developed a strong bond over the years. Now seven years old, they primarily compete in showing and enjoy hunting together on Exmoor. Sophie also has three other full siblings of Lily, which she shows in-hand at local and county events.

This year marks their first participation in the Search for a Star competition, although they have previously qualified for the prestigious London Horse Show, where they achieved a commendable 7th place. Sophie’s dedication to her equestrian pursuits is evident, as she even adjusted her nursing work schedule to attend the qualifier for this event.

Title: Tasmanian Harness Trainer Wayne Yole Faces Deadline to Address Regulatory Breaches

Tasmanian harness trainer Wayne Yole has been given until the end of the month to prove why he "should be allowed to home, stable or train any horses" at his Sidmouth property following a multi-agency inspection last month.

On March 24, Tasmanian Racing Integrity Commissioner Sean Carroll organised an inspection of the stables at Sidmouth in northern Tasmania. In attendance were representatives from the Tasracing Integrity Unit, RSPCA Tasmania, Biosecurity Tasmania, and the West Tamar Council.

During the search, Tasracing says it identified numerous alleged breaches of regulatory requirements and animal welfare guidelines. It has since issued Wayne Yole with a notice for him to show cause as to why the stables should be allowed to home, stable or train horses from the premises.

It is unclear exactly what the show cause notice relates to. Wayne Yole is the father of harness trainers Ben and Tim Yole, both of whom have been disqualified from the industry for three years. Last year, the ABC reported that several horses that used to list Ben Yole as their trainer were transferred into his father Wayne’s name, a decision signed off by the now-defunct Office of Racing Integrity.

Wayne Yole has been given until April 30 to rectify any issues and respond to the notice. A spokesperson for Wayne Yole said they would work through any issues, stating, "We are still awaiting clarification as to what is required. We hope it will all be sorted out in an orderly manner."
