Anticipation is growing for the 2025 USEF Eventing Young Rider Championships at Loch Moy Farm in Maryland, and the USEA is inviting non-competing Young Riders to apply for the USEA Youth Mentorship Program. Established in 2008, this program allows aspiring equine professionals to shadow eventing officials at major FEI competitions, providing an immersive experience that highlights the behind-the-scenes roles essential to the sport.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to observe and learn from officials throughout the Championships, participating in briefings, decision-making processes, and scoring methods. This hands-on mentorship aims to foster future involvement in eventing while ensuring a fun and educational environment. Participants will be part of their Area Young Rider teams but will not compete due to the program’s time commitments.
To apply, candidates must be 25 or younger and current members of their Area’s Young Rider program, with applications due by June 15. The program is free, though participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. Following the event, participants will reflect on their experiences for publication and may engage in post-event promotions. For further inquiries, interested individuals can contact the USEA Mentorship Coordinator, Holly Covey.
