Bethany Baumgardner, a trainer for Glen Hill Farm, has transformed her passion for horses into a successful career in horse racing. Growing up in Harford County, Maryland, she developed a love for horses despite her family’s lack of involvement in the sport. With her parents’ support, she began riding lessons at a young age, eventually transitioning from eventing to galloping racehorses to fund her passion. Her experiences included competing internationally through the Fegentri program, where she rode in 13 countries and achieved notable victories.
After retiring from riding, Baumgardner worked as an assistant trainer for Tom Proctor, gaining invaluable experience in horse care and training. Her time with Proctor and Hall of Fame trainer Tom Voss equipped her with the skills necessary to take on her current role at Glen Hill Farm, where she now trains 12 horses, including the Grade 3 winner Ocean Club. Baumgardner emphasizes a hands-on approach, riding her horses to better understand their conditioning and needs.
Looking ahead, Baumgardner aims to expand her training horizons, potentially exploring circuits in Kentucky while continuing to develop her skills at Glen Hill. With a focus on training quality horses and a supportive team behind her, she is poised for further success in the racing world.
