Title: Celebrating Tradition and Triumph at the 172nd Upperville Colt & Horse Show

The 172nd Upperville Colt & Horse Show is currently taking place in Virginia, showcasing its rich history as the oldest horse show in the U.S., established in 1853. Scott Stewart and his horse Fidelio, an 8-year-old Holsteiner, achieved significant success by winning both the grand green hunter and grand champion hunter titles, earning Stewart the Leading Hunter Rider honors. The event has attracted top riders who reflect on their favorite horses and memories associated with the show.

Riders like Brooke Kemper and Amanda Steege shared their dream mounts, with Kemper expressing admiration for the iconic mare Rox Dene, while Steege reminisced about her experiences with the beloved horse Catch Me. Both riders highlighted the evolution of the show, noting changes in the competition environment and the cherished memories they’ve created over the years.

Newcomer Tara Metzner, who is experiencing Upperville for the first time, emphasized the unique atmosphere of the event, contrasting it with larger, more commercial shows. She expressed her appreciation for the historical significance of the venue and the legacy of riders and horses that have graced its grounds. Overall, the show continues to be a beloved tradition for participants and spectators alike, celebrating the sport’s heritage and community.
