Canterbury Park is set to kick off its 31st season of horse racing on Saturday, featuring a total of 51 race days for thoroughbreds and quarter horses. The track in Shakopee will host a diverse field of horses and trainers from various states, including Arizona, Texas, and Florida. Last season, the average daily attendance was 4,802, and this year’s racing schedule will primarily run on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the season extending through September 20.
The opening night on Saturday will mark Canterbury’s earliest season opener since 2022, with the first post scheduled for 5 p.m. General admission is priced at $10 for adults and $7 for youth, while children under 5 can enter for free. Complimentary parking is available for all guests, and discounts can be found online.
In addition to traditional horse racing, Canterbury Park will host various promotional events, including dog races starting May 25 and culminating in a Best in Show event on August 31. The season will also feature four major races on Saturdays, including the Northern Stars Turf Festival and the Minnesota Festival of Champions, highlighting the summer racing calendar.
