The 2025 live thoroughbred racing season at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack begins on Memorial Day with the $50,000 George Barker Stakes, featuring a six-furlong race. Looms Boldy, a five-year-old gelding and the 5-2 favorite, returns to FLGR after a two-year absence, having previously won the Ontario County Stakes. He is trained by Brad Cox and will be ridden by jockey Andre Worrie. Another contender, Lady’s Golden Guy, is the second choice at 3-1 and is looking to regain form after a strong performance in his recent allowance race.
The George Barker Stakes is part of a nine-race program, with the race being the final leg of the early Pick 5 and the start of the late Pick 5. A total of six horses are entered for the race, promising an exciting competition.
In addition to the racing, Memorial Day festivities will include food options like Carrubba’s Chicken Barbeque and the Fairport Hots Food truck. Admission, parking, and live racing programs are free, with gates opening at 11:30 a.m. Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack has been operational since 1962 and offers a variety of gaming and dining options alongside live racing.
