Pickle, a tiny foal found severely ill and unable to stand or breathe properly, was rescued through a multi-agency effort led by World Horse Welfare. Diagnosed with multiple illnesses including strangles, equine flu, and salmonella, Pickle was nursed back to health at a holding yard before being transferred to Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre near Blackpool. Despite his fragile start and diminutive size—only seven hands high at one year old—Pickle has made a remarkable recovery and become a beloved attraction at the centre.
Now healthy and playful, Pickle enjoys life alongside other horses and ponies at Penny Farm, where visitors are charmed by his small stature and sweet nature. The rescue team, supported by partners like LeMieux who provided a specially sized headcollar, continues to care for him as he prepares for eventual rehoming. Pickle’s inspiring journey from near death to a bright future highlights the dedication of those involved in his rescue and rehabilitation.
