New Zealand eventer Tim Price won the prestigious CCI5-L at Les Étoiles de Pau in France aboard Jarillo, finishing on a dressage score of 30.9 penalty points. This victory marks his second win at Pau and his sixth CCI5-L* crown. Price also placed fourth with Happy Boy, who finished on 34.3 penalties. The 35th edition of Pau was notable for its challenging conditions, including changeable weather and a demanding cross-country course, which kept the competition open until the final show jumping phase in front of over 40,000 spectators.

The event director, Pascal Sayous, described this edition as possibly the best in his 30 years of organizing. The competition featured a tight leaderboard, with the top ten riders separated by just four penalty points, emphasizing the high level of skill required. Price praised Jarillo’s reliability and jumping ability, noting that the course was tough and suited only the best horses and riders, highlighting the elite nature of this five-star event.
