TIEC and Foothills Humane Society Partner to Promote Animal Adoption

The Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) and Foothills Humane Society (FHS) have partnered to promote animal adoption by hosting adoption events during weekday Competitor Parties at TIEC. This collaboration aims to place dogs in loving homes while reaching a wider audience beyond the local Polk County area. The initiative has seen success, with 18 adoptions last year and three already this season, including the recent adoption of a puppy named Delilah by two-time Olympian Leslie Burr Howard, who fostered the dog while competing.

The strategy of holding events on weekday evenings attracts visitors from across the country, expanding the pool of potential adopters. The fostering approach allows prospective owners to ensure compatibility with their existing pets, making the transition smoother. FHS plans to continue these events throughout the season, with the next adoption opportunity scheduled for June 26, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., reinforcing the strong connection between horse enthusiasts and dog lovers.
