Early Sunday morning, Ellis County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at a large, unsanctioned outdoor party and trail ride event near Red Oak. Three individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals, with one person reported in serious condition. The event featured activities such as a back-to-school supply giveaway, water balloon fights, live music, and horseback riding, but did not have the required permit for such a large gathering.

Most attendees were from outside Ellis County, and authorities have not confirmed if any suspects are in custody. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public and encourages anyone with tips to contact them directly or submit anonymous information through Crime Stoppers of Ellis County.
