Three people and two dogs were rescued by the RNLI after their 6.5m motorboat ran aground in thick fog south of Brownsea Island. The Poole lifeboat crew found the boat stranded in mud with visibility reduced to about 50 meters and the tide continuing to fall, making the rescue challenging.
Due to the low tide and poor visibility, the crew anchored the motorboat and safely transported the passengers and dogs to Salterns Marina. Poole helm Ed Davies highlighted the difficulty of the operation but emphasized the importance of their training and use of radar and navigation equipment to ensure a safe rescue.
