Three horses, including two miniature horses showing signs of neglect and difficulty walking, were seized from a West Valley property in Buckeye by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). The seizure followed a deputy’s observation of an unhealthy horse during an unrelated call, leading investigators to visit the property near 187th Avenue and Broadway Road. The owner admitted the animals had not seen a vet in four years and was unaware of their poor condition.
MCSO’s Animal Crimes and MASH units took custody of the horses after obtaining a warrant. The MASH program allows inmates to assist in caring for seized animals. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
