Thoroughbred Horse Racing Ends at Vancouver’s Hastings Racecourse After Over a Century

Thoroughbred horse racing at Vancouver’s historic Hastings Racecourse is ending after more than a century, as announced by the operator Great Canadian Entertainment. The company stated the decision is effective immediately and attributed it to the lack of economic feasibility to continue another racing season, despite the difficulty of the choice.

While horse racing will cease, casino operations and the simulcast racebook at the site will continue as usual. The racing season, which typically runs from spring to fall, will no longer take place, and no horses are currently on the grounds.
