The Thoroughbred: Celebrating Oldham County’s Horse Racing Legacy at the History Center

The Oldham County History Center (OCHC) has launched a new exhibit titled “The Thoroughbred: Horses, People and Farms of Oldham County,” celebrating the region’s rich heritage in the Thoroughbred racing industry. Open through June 6, the exhibit features memorabilia and stories of legendary horses like Old Hat and Alysheba, prominent families such as the Huffmans and Wades, and iconic farms including Hermitage Farm. The exhibit opened on March 6 with a Q&A panel featuring industry veterans Del Lowell, Dr. Roger Magnusson, and Bill Landes, who shared insights and stories from their decades of experience.

An Industry Night event is scheduled for April 13, offering visitors a chance to explore the exhibit after hours, meet racing professionals, enjoy live music, food trucks, and participate in a raffle supporting future OCHC programs. The exhibit is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, with admission included in the museum entry fee. Suitable for all ages, the exhibit invites visitors to immerse themselves in Oldham County’s storied Thoroughbred legacy.
