The Paddock: Floral Park’s New Bar Honoring Its Horse Racing Heritage

The Paddock, Floral Park’s newest bar, honors the village’s rich horse racing heritage and its connection to Belmont Park Racetrack. Owned by Barry and Liam McGreevy—both former bartenders at the longtime local bar McCarthy’s—the venue preserves the close-knit, welcoming atmosphere of its predecessor while embracing a horse racing theme through its decor and community focus. The bar offers an upgraded draft beer selection, a new menu featuring classic bar food, and hosts events like a breast cancer fundraiser with jockey Jackie Davis. With Belmont Park’s reopening next fall, The Paddock aims to deepen its ties to the racing community and expand its horse-centered programming.

Beyond horse racing, The Paddock engages the local community with activities like a weekly darts league and college football viewings, reflecting the owners’ commitment to making it a fun, inclusive gathering spot. Barry, who grew up in Floral Park with a lifelong connection to horse racing, and McGreevy bring extensive hospitality experience to the bar, which has quickly become a vibrant hub for both longtime patrons and new visitors. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., The Paddock continues the tradition of a great local bar while looking forward to a bright future.
