The Legend of Khiimori, developed by Germany’s Aesir Interactive and NightinGames, is a horseback delivery game set in 13th-century Mongolia, now available in Early Access on PC. Players take on the role of Yam, a mounted messenger tasked with delivering valuable cargo across the vast steppe. The gameplay emphasizes survival, resource gathering, and camp building, with an archery system designed for hunting and defense rather than direct combat. A unique horse progression system allows players to breed horses with specialized traits for different terrains and missions, enhancing gameplay variety and difficulty.
During its 12-month Early Access period, the developers are focusing on refining game mechanics and structure, with plans to introduce features like falconry, traditional Mongolian horse racing, a combat-free Peace Mode, and customization options. The full release will also be available on consoles, with ongoing improvements guided by player feedback. The game draws comparisons to Death Stranding due to its core delivery and survival gameplay loop but is distinct in its historical setting and focus on Mongolian culture.
