William Harrigan made a strategic investment when he purchased the filly Complicated for $110,000 at the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, recognizing her strong lineage. Complicated, a daughter of Blame, had previously finished just behind future champion Lady Eli in a maiden special weight race at Saratoga in 2014, which piqued Harrigan’s interest. This race also featured Puca, who would later become the dam of notable racehorses, including the 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage.
Complicated has since produced several successful offspring, including Simply in Front, who recently won the Churchill Distaff Turf Mile (G2T), marking her second graded stakes victory and boosting her earnings to $1,860,636. Harrigan expressed confidence in Simply in Front’s potential for a strong 4-year-old season, noting that the mare’s foals tend to improve with age. Other notable foals from Complicated include stakes winner Churchtown and multiple graded stakes winner Honor D Lady.
Harrigan, who owns Miacomet Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky, has been breeding horses for about 15 years, focusing on producing and selling quality racehorses. Complicated’s lineage continues to thrive, as she is currently in foal to the top sire Not This Time for a 2026 foal, further solidifying Harrigan’s commitment to breeding excellence in the industry.
