The Cowboy & The Queen: A Heartwarming Documentary Screening at Woodstock Vermont Film Series

The Woodstock Vermont Film Series will be showing “The Cowboy & The Queen,” a documentary about the friendship between horse trainer Monty Roberts and Queen Elizabeth II. Directed by Andrea Nevins, the film explores Roberts’ revolutionary approach to horse training based on kindness and mutual respect, which gained credibility when the Queen became a supporter.

The documentary showcases Roberts’ innovative techniques that reject traditional horse training methods and focus on gentleness and respect. Queen Elizabeth II’s collaboration with Roberts sparked a global movement in humane horse training that continues to inspire trainers worldwide. FilmWeek describes the story as “tender, sweet, and endearing.”

The screening of “The Cowboy & The Queen” is part of the Woodstock Vermont Film Series curated by Jay Craven, which aims to highlight compelling, place-based stories to spark conversation and connections. Tickets for the film are $15 per person and $12 for Billings Farm & Museum members, with screenings running on select Saturdays and Sundays through Feb. 23, 2025. More information can be found at billingsfarm.org/filmseries.
