Theeraphat “Ten” Ransaworanan, a Year 10 student in central Thailand, has gained local fame for commuting to school daily on horseback, riding his three-year-old stallion named Sunny. His passion for horses began in primary school, and he now owns two horses. Ten appreciates this mode of transport as it saves fuel, avoids motorbike use, and allows him to teach horse riding and participate in traditional parades for extra income. Another student, Chart, also rides a horse borrowed from Ten, sharing similar benefits and interests.
The school director, Nutchanart Yimchan, commended the boys’ initiative, noting that Ten formally requested permission to bring his horses to school and responsibly cares for them on campus. She described their practice as a unique example of “soft power” for the school, highlighting the positive impact of their unconventional and eco-friendly commuting choice.
