Terrified Horse Crashes Into Car During Funeral Procession, Animal Rescue Calls for Police-Led Welfare Unit

Alarming footage captured in Clondalkin, Ireland, shows a terrified horse crashing headfirst into a silver car during a chaotic funeral procession involving horse-drawn carts, sulkies, and riders on a busy road. The incident occurred on August 11 near Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, where the horse, spooked and out of control, broke a red light and collided violently with the vehicle, leaving the animal injured with a deep cut on its head. The dramatic scene highlights the dangers posed by unregulated horse traffic on public roads, endangering both animals and the public.

In response, the animal rescue charity My Lovely Horse condemned the event as “lawlessness and cruelty” and is calling for the establishment of a dedicated Garda-led Animal Welfare Crime Unit, along with increased funding for rescues and modern, enforceable laws to protect animals and public safety. The charity emphasized the urgent need for regulation to prevent such incidents, urging the public to support their petition to ensure accountability and prevent future harm to both animals and people.
