Alarming footage from a funeral procession in Clondalkin, Ireland, shows a terrified horse losing control and crashing headfirst into a silver car on a busy road. The incident, which involved multiple horses and carts weaving through traffic, left the horse with a severe head injury requiring stitches. The chaotic scene highlighted serious safety concerns, including breaches of the Road Traffic Act, lack of regulation, and risks to pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
In response, the animal rescue charity My Lovely Horse condemned the event as “lawlessness and cruelty” and is calling for the establishment of a dedicated Garda-led Animal Welfare Crime Unit. The charity demands increased funding for rescues and the implementation of modern, enforceable laws to protect both animals and the public. They urge the public to report animal cruelty and support their petition to prevent such incidents from recurring.
