Teenager’s Dramatic Horse Riding Rescue Featured in Yorkshire Air 999 Series 3 Premiere

The opening episode of the third series of Yorkshire Air 999, airing on Really and discovery+ at 9pm on October 3, features the dramatic rescue of 19-year-old Maddie Schaible following a severe horse riding accident in Northallerton. Maddie suffered an open ankle fracture after being thrown from a horse, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) critical care team quickly arrived to provide advanced pain relief, realign her leg, and stabilize the injury before airlifting her to James Cook University Hospital for surgery. Maddie is now recovering with optimism and gratitude toward the air ambulance team, determined to return to riding soon.

The episode also highlights other emergency responses by the YAA, including rescuing a farmer trapped under a vintage tractor, treating a motorcyclist with multiple injuries from green-laning, and assisting a two-year-old child with breathing difficulties. The series showcases the vital, life-saving work of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance across the region.
