A Grade 10 student named Ten from Ang Thong Province, Thailand, has gained attention for riding his horse, Sunny, to school daily instead of using conventional transport like motorcycles or buses. His passion for horses began in Grade 1, and after years of training, he now owns two horses and has been commuting by horseback for about a month. Ten says riding to school helps him save on petrol costs, and he also teaches others about horses and participates in related events outside school.
Ten’s unique mode of transportation is not only accepted but encouraged by his school. The principal, Dr. Nuchanart Yimchan, granted permission for Sunny to be kept on campus, viewing Ten’s horse riding as a form of “soft power” that enriches the school community by blending personal passion with tradition.
