Fifteen-year-old Rubi Harper from Shanklin made a remarkable impact at the recent Dorset Showground championships, competing in 12 classes and placing in the top six in eight events. Riding her horses Maverick and Katrin Wan—whom she had only ridden for a week before the competition—Rubi secured multiple wins and high placements, including victories in the 1m open, 1m Scope Qualifier, and the challenging Foxhunter class. Her performances qualified her for second rounds in upcoming events and put her in contention for the National Finals at Aintree in November, all while recovering from recent surgery.

Rubi’s rapid rise in British showjumping highlights her exceptional talent and determination. Starting riding lessons early and inspired by her grandmother’s involvement with horses, she now aims to become an international showjumper with Olympic aspirations. Currently supported by Red Funnel, Rubi is seeking additional sponsorship to advance her promising career in the sport.
