Team USA Secures Second Place at UBS-Cup CCIO4-S* Cross Country Challenge in Aachen

At the UBS-Cup CCIO4-S* at CHIO Aachen on July 5, Team USA faced a challenging cross country course designed by Giuseppe Della Chiesa, featuring technical obstacles like the STAWAG combination, coffin jumps, and water complexes. Despite the demanding terrain and an optimal time of 6:35 that no rider could meet, the event saw a high completion rate of 93% with no horse falls. American riders William Coleman and Boyd Martin delivered standout performances, moving up significantly in individual standings with fast times and minimal penalties.

Ultimately, Team USA secured second place behind New Zealand with a final score of 117.200, marking their third consecutive year finishing as runners-up in the UBS-Cup CCIO4-S*. Other notable American contributions included Caroline Pamukcu and Philip Dutton, who added time penalties but helped solidify the team’s strong overall result. The event highlighted both the difficulty of Aachen’s cross country and the resilience and skill of the U.S. riders.
