Tammy Gantt Presents to University of Florida’s Inaugural Florida Equine Ambassador Cohort

Tammy Gantt, Vice President of Member Services, Events, and Sales at the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association (FTBOA), presented virtually to the University of Florida’s inaugural Florida Equine Ambassador cohort on March 5. She highlighted Marion County’s status as the “Horse Capital of the World®,” discussed diverse equine-related career opportunities in Florida, and shared her personal journey from a rural farm upbringing to racetrack management. Gantt emphasized the importance of strong relationships, internships, volunteer work, and mentorships in advancing within the equine industry.

The Florida Equine Ambassador program, launched in December 2025 by UF/IFAS Department of Animal Sciences, aims to broaden students’ understanding of the equine industry beyond traditional roles. Coordinated by Alyssa Ohmstede, the program offers 4-H members leadership development, networking opportunities, and industry immersion while encouraging service to their communities. It seeks to expose students to various career paths in the equine sector and foster connections that support their professional growth.
