In a thrilling jump-off designed by Anderson Lima, six riders advanced to the final round, with five achieving double clears, leaving the winner to be decided by time. Shane Sweetnam clinched victory aboard Coriaan van Klapscheut Z, a Zangersheide gelding, by setting an unbeatable time of 41.40 seconds. Sweetnam, who began riding the horse in mid-2024 after an impromptu trip to Sweden, praised the gelding’s natural talent and competitive spirit, noting his rapid adaptation to FEI-level competition despite being relatively inexperienced.
The competition was closely contested, with fellow Irish rider Bertram Allen finishing second by just half a second on Conquest de Rigo. Sweetnam reflected on his consistent near-wins and expressed satisfaction in finally securing the top spot, highlighting the horse’s comfort and potential for further refinement. Additionally, Sweetnam’s groom, Maria Israelsson, received recognition for her exceptional care of Coriaan van Klapscheut Z, underscoring the team effort behind the success.
