The Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center has been transforming lives for over 40 years by providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons to individuals with physical, emotional, and developmental challenges. While lesson fees cover less than a quarter of the actual costs, the program relies heavily on community donations and volunteer support to care for horses, maintain accessible facilities, and ensure all riders can participate regardless of financial means.
Founded in 1982 by Bob Kessler, the center started with a small barn and a few horses but has since expanded to include modern stables, accessible amenities, multiple riding arenas, and scenic trails. Community contributions are vital to sustaining this legacy of healing, enabling the center to continue offering life-changing experiences that foster strength, confidence, and joy through therapeutic horsemanship.
