Super Hong Kong Wins in Record Time Amid Racing Incidents and Veterinary Checks

Super Hong Kong delivered an impressive performance, taking the lead from 1,000 meters out and winning in a record time for his class, marking his fifth victory from 55 starts. Despite stepping up from a career-low handicap, he showed strong form over the 2,200m at the Valley. Odds-on favorite Storm Runner finished second but remains winless after 13 starts, while Perpetual Power secured third with a solid run from gate two. Romantic Fantasy and Leather Master also ran well, narrowly missing top placings, whereas likely leader Wai May Wai Wai lost ground early due to a slow start and interference.

The race saw several incidents: Storm Runner and Super Hong Kong were sent for post-race sampling, with Super Hong Kong’s jockey fined for whip use above shoulder height. Romantic Fantasy was bumped shortly after the start, affecting his position, and Wah May Wai Wai had blood in his mouth pre-race but was cleared to compete. Mr Aladdin kicked a rail before the race and was unbalanced early on after contact with Romantic Fantasy, ultimately showing no strong response in the home straight. Veterinary checks post-race found no significant issues for the involved horses.
