Sunshine Therapeutic Riding Center (STRC) in Pearcy will host its annual Sunshine Eggstravaganza on March 29, featuring sensory-friendly Easter egg hunts, hayrides, cupcake decorating, face painting, and a carnival atmosphere to highlight its horseback therapy programs for children and individuals with special needs. Founded by Executive Director Katja Summerlin, inspired by her son’s journey with Down Syndrome and the absence of such services in Garland County, STRC uses the natural movement of horses to provide evidence-based mental health and physical therapy, especially benefiting children on the autism spectrum by helping regulate their nervous systems.
Over the past five years, STRC has built strong community ties, partnering with local organizations like New Hope Therapy and Lake Hamilton School District, and continues to raise awareness about the unique benefits of equine therapy. The free event offers a chance for families to meet therapy horses and learn about the center’s mission, with activity tickets starting at $1. Registration and donations can be made online, supporting STRC’s ongoing efforts to serve the community through transformative horse-assisted therapy.
