The Sunny Coast Trail Horse Riders Club celebrated its 10th anniversary on the weekend of May 17-18, marking a decade of growth from 10 members and six rides in 2015 to 40 members and fortnightly rides from February to November. The highlight of the celebrations was a two-day camping and riding event covering 44 kilometers along a section of the National Trail from Miva to Kilkivan. This ride honored the club’s roots connected to the Australian Trail Horse Riders Association (ATHRA) and provided members with the opportunity to experience the historic and scenic trail, supported by local hosts and volunteers.
The weekend featured diverse landscapes, camaraderie, and a special celebration night at Woolooga Hall with speeches, presentations, and performances by founding members. The club acknowledged the efforts of many individuals and organizations who helped organize the event, emphasizing teamwork, safety, and fun as core values. Commemorative shirts, badges, and awards were given, including the SAM AWARD for the best-behaved horse. The National Trail ride is the first of two major anniversary rides planned for 2025, with the next scheduled at Amamoor in September.
