Students Shine at Bell County Youth Fair and Livestock Show in Central Texas

The Bell County Youth Fair and Livestock Show took place at the Cadence Bank Center in Belton, with students from various school districts showcasing their market swine in different classes. Students like Reno Schoepf and Tara Stone shared their experiences of raising and showing their animals, emphasizing the hard work and dedication required for success. Judges evaluate the animals based on various criteria, while students are judged on their presentation skills.

Preparation for the fair involves selecting, feeding, grooming, and training the swine, with students dedicating hours each day to care for their animals. Despite the hard work, students like Garrison Prcin find joy in the process and take pride in their accomplishments. Former Belton ISD school board president Randy Pittenger commended the students for their dedication and highlighted the importance of family support in achieving success at the fair.

Belton ISD recently unveiled a new 10,600-square-foot agriculture barn, funded through a bond issue, to support students in their livestock projects. The investment in facilities like the barn demonstrates the community’s commitment to providing resources for students to pursue their passion for agriculture. The fair serves as a platform for students to showcase their skills, make new friends, and gain valuable experiences in the agricultural industry.
