Staff and Volunteers Rally to Raise Funds for New Horse at Calvert Stables

Calvert Stables staff and volunteers are organizing a fundraising event called a ‘trap push’ on 27 October, where participants will manually push a 110kg horse-drawn carriage along a 10 km route from Keswick to Threlkeld and back. The event aims to raise £10,000 to purchase a new ‘ride and drive’ horse to expand their 12-strong equine team. The stables, located near Keswick, provide accessible riding and trap driving for people with disabilities and are approved by the British Horse Society and Riding for the Disabled Association.

Stables Manager Lou Hogan highlighted that this event is the first of several planned fundraisers over the next year, encouraging local supporters and visitors to donate online, contribute to collection boxes, or join the walk for moral support. Calvert Stables has also launched a Just Giving page for donations and welcomes volunteers and sponsors. The centre recently partnered with a Keswick tourism operator to further support its mission of providing accessible outdoor adventure opportunities.
