Randy and Jenny Boyd recently made their first visit to Santa Anita Park, celebrating a triumphant win by Splendora in the B. Wayne Hughes Beholder Mile Stakes (G1). Splendora, a 5-year-old mare trained by Bob Baffert and owned in partnership with By Talla Racing, extended her winning streak to five races, including the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1). Jockey Juan Hernandez guided her to a commanding 5 3/4-length victory, showcasing her speed and dominance. The Boyds acquired a share in Splendora as part of a strategic investment, also owning Vahva, the 2025 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale purchase and runner-up to Splendora in the Breeders’ Cup.
In other stakes action at Santa Anita, Final Boss, a 5-year-old son of American Pharoah trained by John Sadler, pulled off a 31-1 upset in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes (G2T). Under Hernandez, Final Boss deviated from his usual front-running style to rate behind the pace before finishing strongly to win by a half-length. This marked Final Boss’s first graded stakes victory and second black-type win, highlighting his consistent effort despite occasional setbacks. Both horses reflect strong breeding and ownership connections, with Splendora sired by Audible and Final Boss by American Pharoah, underscoring the quality of their pedigrees and training.
