The Special Olympics TT National Games featured an equestrian event on May 25 at the TT Police Service Mounted Branch in St. James, where athletes demonstrated their skills alongside horses. The competition included various events, notably the developmental shapes, where participants rode horses to collect shapes like circles and squares. Zachary Tyrell, riding Jayla, secured first place in the first of six events, followed closely by Reece Mohammed and Imani Price.
Jayla and Harry emerged as standout horses, each winning three events throughout the day. Other notable winners included Jabari Baird and Zaiden Birchwood, showcasing the talents of athletes from various organizations. The competition also tested balance and concentration through a ball and spoon event, with Jadon and Rhian King taking top honors.
In addition to the equestrian events, athletics and powerlifting competitions were held the previous weekend, with the action set to continue in Tobago on May 28, featuring football, athletics, and bocce. The event highlighted the dedication and skill of the athletes, fostering a spirit of inclusion and achievement.
