The Southern Districts dressage Club hosted its annual Southern Solstice dressage Competition on January 17-18 at the Albany Equestrian Centre, attracting 50 riders and around 65 horses competing across various test categories from preparatory to novice. Over the two days, more than 150 dressage tests were judged by an experienced panel, featuring a mix of seasoned high-level riders and promising local talent. Notable competitors included Olympian Sonja Johnson and three-time Paralympian Sharon Jarvis, alongside rising juniors like Imogen Boyle and Alyssa Scott, who achieved impressive results in their respective classes.
The event showcased a vibrant blend of experience and emerging skill, with Bethany Rainbow notably sweeping multiple categories aboard Kellerains Nullaki, signaling a strong start to the year following a major outing at the Sydney Three Day Event. The competition not only highlighted elite performances but also provided a platform for local riders to shine, reinforcing the Southern Solstice as a prestigious and inclusive fixture in the dressage calendar.
