South Warwickshire para dressage rider Sara Bates achieved a remarkable silver medal at the CHI Al Shaqab competition in Doha, Qatar, riding her 17-year-old home-bred mare Tango. Competing in the Grade IV class for Great Britain, Sara delivered an emotional and standout Freestyle performance set to music from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, scoring 68.792% and finishing second to the world number one, Kate Shoemaker. This podium finish marked a significant early-season success, earning valuable world ranking points and highlighting Sara’s resilience as she manages multiple sclerosis alongside elite sport.

With the Doha result boosting her international ranking and future selection prospects, she plans to continue competing both in the UK and internationally throughout 2026. Additionally, Sara aims to use her platform to raise awareness of hidden disabilities and inspire others to pursue their ambitions despite challenges.
