South Carolina Releases List of Suspended Charities to Protect Donors

South Carolina officials have published a 55-page list of suspended charities, including several located in the CSRA region, to help donors identify organizations not complying with the Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act. Charities are suspended when they fail to file required registrations or financial reports and do not pay resulting fines, prohibiting them from soliciting donations within the state. The list is intended to protect the public by promoting transparency and trust in charitable giving.

Local suspended charities include groups such as Affect The Culture (Augusta, GA), Aiken Rescue, Inc., and the Humane Society of McCormick County, among others. State officials urge the public to report any suspended charity soliciting donations by contacting the Charities Division hotline at 1-888-CHARITI (242-7484).
