Six-year-old Drew Palmer from Wawne, East Riding, has impressed judges with his natural horse riding talent by winning the prestigious Dartmoor Supreme title at the STARS Champion of Champions show at Aintree. Riding his 19-year-old Dartmoor pony, Cider, Drew showcased exceptional style and skill in a competition featuring nearly 30 ponies, earning two rosettes, a sash, and a wool blanket. Inspired by his mother Jess, a former rider, and guided by his grandmother Sally, Drew has been riding for about 18 months and trains regularly at home.
Drew’s remarkable achievement was celebrated at his school, Wawne Primary, where teachers praised his dedication and talent. Headteacher Georgina Lawson highlighted how Drew’s success has brought pride to the school and community. Jess Palmer expressed immense joy at Drew’s win, recalling his humble reaction and the memorable moment of his victory lap amid applause and music. Drew’s accomplishment marks him as a promising young talent in the regional horse riding scene.
